Deputy Director of Sales and Analytics

Position Summary:

The Deputy Director of Sales and Analytics will help The Broad Stage achieve its marketing goals by using data to fuel audience insights and inform key business decisions. This role will lead the department’s efforts in data, reporting, and list segmentation, and will serve as a bridge across departments on the organization’s use of data. This role is integral in developing the revenue management strategy, meeting annual revenue goals, and will be an important voice in shaping the organization’s marketing strategy and audience development initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset, seek out industry best practices and insights, and embrace a test-and-learn philosophy.

This position reports to the Director of Marketing & Communications.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Help drive The Broad Stage’s marketing strategy by overseeing data analytics across the department; look for trends, analyze, and regularly report key insights and opportunities
  • Holds a leading responsibility for setting and meeting the annual earned revenue goal, and as such has appropriate co-management authority of Box Office sales practices
  • Oversee the marketing department’s segmentation and targeting strategy for direct mail, email, etc.; run lists and serve as project manager for cross-departmental coordination of segmented communications
  • Integrate other forms of data (digital marketing campaign reports, website analytics, etc.) into a more holistic picture of audience and donor behavior.
  • Create and maintain ticket sales tracking reports and project sales; determine standard dashboard-style metrics to share organization-wide via regular reports
  • Provide trend reports that seek to understand how meaningful sets of variables affect ticket sales (programming/themes/genres; seasonality; day of week; etc.)
  • Collaborate with Development on a moves-management strategy to deepen patron engagement; measure Subscriber/Member benefits utilization; track migration of audiences across segments
  • Use data to create new and innovative ways to grow the subscription base; Devise a robust set of Subscriber engagement initiatives.
  • Develop and Oversee group sales strategy and execution
  • Manage dynamic pricing with support
  • Liaise with Patron Services team and provide data/reports that will help inform an increasing sales and audience development focus
  • Support customer satisfaction survey data collection and integration of learnings
  • Drive the process to identify and correct gaps in patron experience; determine the key priorities for focused improvement of sales strategies, tactics, and best practices.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Strong interest or experience working in the performing arts or live events
  • 3-5 years’ experience in analytics, marketing, arts administration, or sales
  • Experience working with data and budgets
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Team management experience preferred
  • Self-starter with abundant curiosity, creativity and willingness to lean into innovation and learning
  • Cultural competency with a diverse group of artists, staff, and community stakeholders
  • Ability to solve problems and process information quickly
  • Ability to work collaboratively and to professionally represent The Broad Stage
  • Ability to work occasional evenings/weekends at events
  • Database experience, particularly with Patron Manager, is a big plus

Location:

This position is based in Santa Monica, California. We are currently working a hybrid with a flexible onsite schedule that includes attendance of on-site, in person live events. A return to non-remote onsite work in the near future is possible.

Compensation:
Salary range $60,000-$65,000 commensurate with experience. Full-time, exempt, with benefits including matching 401K plan.
