Ojai Playwrights Conference
The Ojai Playwrights Conference has existed for over 20 years developing unproduced socio-political plays of artistic excellence from diverse writers both emerging and established. OPC is seeking a Development Director (DD) for part-time year-round employment. The DD will research and propose to Artistic Director (AD), Managing Director (MD), and the Development Committee potential donor partners and sponsors. The Development Director (DD) will also field such suggestions from leadership and board. The DD will field all suggestions and inquiries regarding donations or other financial support and direct to AD and MD and assist in follow up as needed. The DD will collaborate with AD and MD on community relations development by sourcing hotel partners, arts community partners, tourism partners and potential board members. The DD will help plan and facilitate special events focused on OPC development and facilitate all perks of conference sponsorships – payments, tickets to events, acknowledgments, ads, etc. The DD will set up oversight of VIP check-in table at conference events and have oversight of development/donor related tables at all OPC formal events. The DD will advise and collaborate on setting workshop sponsorship levels and perks and craft and distribute handwritten acknowledgements to all conference sponsors. The DD will support MD in tracking and management of annual donors.
The ideal candidate has had at least five years of experience in the area of fundraising and advancement. The candidate should have excellent communication and writing skills, be extremely well organized, versatile, and adept at managing multiple projects and deadlines with grace. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is building a portfolio of clients and contacts. A desire to work alongside a passionate and small staff working collectively to support the development of vital and important plays is required.
This is a part-time, independent contractor position. The salary is $10,000 annually depending on experience and timing. The position is mostly work-from-home, with regular phone and occasional in-person meetings. The Development Director is required to attend the spring Benefit Gala on May 4, 2019 and the second week of the Summer Conference in Ojai (August 4-11, 2019). OPC will provide food and lodging when in Ojai.
