The LA County Arboretum Chinese Lantern Festival
The Festival Event Manager has overall responsibility for the Arboretum’s Chinese Lantern Festival. The Festival is a collaborative event between the Los Angeles Arboretum and Hanart Culture. The festival runs from October 26, 2018 through January 1, 2019 with an anticipated attendance of over 100,000 visitors. The Festival Manager ensures that ticket sales, parking, guest services, overall experience, presentation, relations with City, County, vendors and contractors, and all other aspects of the Festival run smoothly, effectively and in a financially profitable manner. Duties include ensuring that all logistical, technical Festival requirements are met and maintained, manages online sales, Festival invoices and other financial transactions ensuring accurate accounting, serves as on-site contact and liaison for Hanart and all Festival contractors and partners, organizes and supervises Festival parking, box office, food services and retail operations, oversees event set-up and strike of Festival managing the load-in and load-out process. This is a temporary, full-time position and is an employee of the Los Angeles Arboretum Foundation
Previous experience with lead operational responsibility for major public cultural or music event; demonstrated ability to manage financial operations, good services, cash and charge revenues, and community relations; strong interpersonal and relationship building skills; three (3) years minimum relevant experience; good understanding of event management including production and logistics; possess superior organizational skills and the ability to prioritize, problem solve and multitask; demonstrated ability to work well in high stress situations; exhibit a keen attention to detail, including follow-through and follow-up; available to work nights and weekends, specifically for the duration of the Festival.
Required Education and Experience
BA in marketing, public relations, communications, events or related field with at least three years’ experience; a minimum of three years managing festival venues.
The Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden
The Arboretum is a 127-acre botanical garden and historical site jointly operated by the Los Angeles Arboretum Foundation and the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation. Located east of Los Angeles in the city of Arcadia, the Arboretum is home to plant collections from around the world, as well as 19th century architectural landmarks representative of important chapters of California history. The Arboretum hosts over 350,000 annual visitors, in addition to serving 20,000 students a year through school programs and adult education.
