YOUTH SELECTION
● Work with the FDM staff team to select the participants for each
training cohort. This will require reviewing applications, résumés, and
creative work.

TEACHING + MENTORING
● Work with the Lead Teaching Artist to deliver a 160-hour curriculum to
15 students in two separate sessions (Spring, Summer 2022), and to
deliver a 480-hour curriculum to 12 students in a Video Editing

Pre-Apprenticeship Program (starts Fall 2022).
● Teach the foundations of storytelling and build youths’ knowledge and
skills in pre-production, production, and post-production, with an
emphasis on youth developing at least proficient skills using Adobe
PremierePro.
● Provide creative career mentoring and support to program participants.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate is personable, an excellent communicator, and able to
work collaboratively. At least 2 years experience teaching film to young adults
required, with demonstrated experience building a syllabus or lesson plan. An
understanding of the educational equity needs of low-income and other
highly marginalized young people, a plus.

Must possess a high level of technical expertise with cameras, sound, and
related equipment; Apple computers; and the Adobe Suite, with advanced
skill using PremierePro. Experience with the creative sector landscape, and
employment opportunities across the sector, strongly preferred.

SCHEDULE + COMPENSATION
The position pays $18-$20 an hour. This is a non-exempt (hourly) position requiring 24-30 hours per week, on average, when teaching, plus additional hours for curriculum development and planning. Position starts no later than April 1. The spring/summer teaching schedule is: April 11-15, M-F, 10am-6:30pm; April 18-May 27, T/W/Th, 10am-5pm; July 5-July 8, 10am-6:30pm; July 11-August 5, M-Th, 10am-6:30pm. The Pre-Apprenticeship schedule has not yet been confirmed, but will likely begin in October and run, part-time for 6 months.
