Bonhams is an international auction house specializing in the appraisal and sale of fine art, fine jewelry, antiques, fine wine, motor cars and all types of collectibles. Our US galleries and salesrooms are located in New York City, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all pre-sale, sale and post-sale coordination; for the management of the consignor relationship, document management and contract maintenance; for all processing and maintenance of inventory including coordination of preview set up and take down.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include but not limited to

  • Responsible for the complete care of consignors; follow defined Consignor Management work processes; provide consistent execution with all consignor communication including processing of contracts, inventory maintenance and resolving settlement issues.
  • Unpack consignments, note defects/damage, input and barcode property.
  • Coordinate with Photography and Marketing with regard to catalog production, ads and any other marketing collateral as needed in adherence with established deadlines.
  • Prepare property for auction, including tagging and creating signage as needed.
  • Coordinate the movement of inventory between storage locations, photo sets, and galleries, ensuring its safe handling.
  • Manage all sale-related deadlines and auction day operations.
  • Respond to client inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Coordinate return of unsold property with Client Services and Shipping departments.
  • Maintain departmental files, including all consignor documents and sale-related archives.
  • Provide assistance to Client Services in resolution of client issues as necessary.
  • Ensure department functions efficiently, resolving problems and/or escalating as needed.
  • Travel as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate discipline or equivalent experience.

·        Exceptional organization and communication skills, including fluency in reading, writing and English.

·        Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and within multiple deadlines.

·        Ability to perform data entry quickly and accurately.

·        Ability to work cross-functionally with many different internal departments..

·        Excellent customer service skills, able to interact calmly and professionally with clients and resolve or escalate issues as needed.

·        PC proficient with MS Office applications Word, Excel, Outlook.

·        Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry up to 40 lbs
