Internship for Contemporary Art Gallery at Bergamot Station, Santa Monica

Learn the inner workings of the gallery world in Los Angeles' premiere contemporary art location, and help a new gallery grow into a profitable enterprise. Make connections and learn the essentials for any art-related career including art handling, marketing, artist and client relations, press release writing, inventory, sales transactions, event planning, etc. Available internship days are Tuesday-Saturday, 12pm-4pm. Undergraduate and Graduate Students Mandatory.


Duties will include:


  • Inputting inventory
  • Managing press lists
  • Press writing
  • Exhibition coordination
  • Proper art handling procedures
  • Professional etiquette specific to the art world
  • Budgeting
  • Research
  • Contacting clients and press
  • Marketing and social media
  • Organization and administration
  • Helping clients and customers
  • Database maintenance (Batchbook, Dropbox, Googledocs, Google Drive)
  • Support in installation, packing, shipping, organizing art transportation, etc..
  • Preparing and participating in exhibition opening receptions/special events



  • Necessary Skills
  • Current undergraduate or graduate student
  • Solid grasp of English grammar and spelling
  • Knowledge of Email etiquette, phone etiquette and letter formatting
  • Proficient knowledge of Google Drive and Apps (Gmail, Google docs, Calendar)
  • Comfortable with Spreadsheets (Excel)
  • Comfortable with Photoshop or Design Software
  • Comfortable with CMS (Content Management Software such as Wordpress and Artsy)
  • Presentable appearance, comfortable interacting with clients
  • Has laptop to bring to gallery
  • Responsible, punctual
