Please join Center Theatre Group’s first-ever August Wilson Monologue Competition Introduction Workshop for Educators!

This FREE workshop will take place on Wednesday, September 30 from 4:306:30pm at CTG’s Downtown L.A. headquarters.

Center Theatre Group is proud to be the Southern California home for the national August Wilson Monologue Competition giving local high school students the opportunity to bring Wilson’s memorable characters to life. Current high school students in grades 10, 11 and 12 from Los Angeles, Ventura, Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties are eligible to participate. Students must be enrolled in high school the whole school year and may not be older than 19 on the day of the national finals to participate in all stages of the program.

We want to help high school educators give their students a leg up on the competition and find out how they can get the most out of the 10 wonderfully diverse plays in the August Wilson Century Cycle compendium.

Whether students have participated in the August Wilson Monologue Competition for years or if you’re new to the program, we invite you to learn more about this incredible opportunity for young people to bring Wilson’s memorable characters to life.

Can’t make the workshop but still want to share this terrific, totally free program with your 10th, 11th, or 12th grade students?

Let your students know that they can express their general interest by singing up and continue to learn more.

Our early bird sign-up deadline is October 8, and our final registration deadline is October 22.

Plus, we’re holding a FREE Introduction Workshop for Students on Wednesday, October 7 from 4:30–6:30pm.
