Call for Performing Artists for Latino Heritage Event

Saturday, September 19, 2015 the Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS) will host their first Latino Heritage event. The objectives for this event include
1) the engagement of youth, ages 14-21, through education and an appreciation of Latino heritage and culture, as well as other cultures;
2) the promotion of Teen Clubs; and
3) to provide a fun and educational experience.

DCFS is seeking artists who would be interested in providing a culturally-relevant musical experience to youth attending the Latino Heritage event. Diverse genres are welcome, though the aim is to inspire Latino cultural appreciation in youth. Youth attending the event are not limited to the Latino population. The expected attendance is approximately 100 youth plus staff and volunteers. Artist should have the desire and experience to engage a young audience.

The program is scheduled to begin 9:30 a.m. and end at approximately 3:45 p.m. Ideally artists would perform during the lunch break beginning at 12:30 p.m., but arrangements can be discussed.
