Mission: Outfest protects our past, showcases our present and nurtures our future by fostering artistic expression of gender, sexuality and LGBTQ culture and its transformative social impact on the world.

Outfest is a 33 year-old media arts organization dedicated to the creation, exhibition and preservation of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) moving image. We believe our work is part of an ongoing effort to build a vibrant, affirming, and sustainable LGBT community in Southern California and

beyond. Audiences rely on Outfest as a mirror and a megaphone – reflecting and affirming LGBT experiences as well as conveying the rich diversity of our lives to mainstream observers. Our four programs include Outfest Los Angeles LGBT Film Festival (the oldest film festival in Los Angeles), Outfest Fusion LGBT People of Color Film Festival (the only one of its kind), Outfest Forward (our education and mentoring program) and the Outfest UCLA Legacy Project (protecting LGBT film history for future generations).
