Pasadena Conservatory of Music
Communications/Marketing Director
The Pasadena Conservatory of Music seeks interested and qualified
candidates to apply for the position of Communications/Marketing Director.
*The School*
The Pasadena Conservatory of Music is an independent, non-profit,
nationally-accredited community music school. The central purpose of the
school is to provide opportunities to study, perform and enjoy music to a
broad spectrum of the community. PCM is committed to developing and
sustaining excellence in its programs and is equally committed to providing
access to these programs for students of all ages, backgrounds and ability
levels. PCM has established a reputation for providing high quality
programs and plays a significant role in the arts and education environment
of a city renowned for its cultural assets.
The Conservatory enrolls over 1100 students annually on-site, and serves an
additional 3000 students through off-site outreach programs. Over 60
members serve on the faculty with most holding advanced degrees in music.
The school is managed by an administrative staff of eight. The annual
operating budget is two and a half million dollars.
*The Position*
Working with the Executive Director, the Communications/Marketing Director
is responsible for the design, implementation and analysis of annual and
ongoing communication and marketing plans.
*The Candidate*
The candidate is a self-motivated individual who values working in a
collegial environment. The successful candidate will be passionate about
the school’s mission, programs and culture of inquiry and learning. The
successful candidate will be able to communicate a compelling message to a
broad and diverse constituency. Outstanding leadership skills and the
personal skills to work effectively with internal and external
constituencies are required.
*Qualifications*
- Experience managing complex and numerous projects simultaneously
- Experience and facility using social media, on-line tools and
technology
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Strong computer skills including MS suite, databases, basic graphic
programs
- Experience and knowledge of classical music strongly desired
- Experience in arts education a plus

- Flyers, brochures, press releases
- Internal messaging
A Bachelor’s degree is required at a minimum. The candidate must have at
least 3-5 years communications/marketing experience. The position is
full-time and reports to the Executive Director. Compensation is
commensurate with experience and includes health and vacation benefits.
