GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee all administrative aspects of inventory control, including cataloguing incoming/outgoing inventory, generating condition reports, data entry (ArtSystems software), coordinating outgoing and incoming consignments, and domestic as well as international shipping arrangements through FedEx.
  • Pack framed & unframed artwork for shipment which may include the construction of crates and boxes.
  • Prepare crates and inventory for international art fairs.
  • Coordinate and purchase supplies and services from outside vendors. Track expenses and costs.
  • Exhibition preparation and installation including matting, fitting, framing, positioning, lighting, and hanging (including large, oversized framed work)
  • Assist staff members with client presentations.
  • Minor maintenance of the gallery building (including painting and small repairs)

ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS: 

This gallery position is 75% inventory control & data management and 25% installation and prepator duties.

  • This is an extremely detail oriented position. Candidate must be meticulous, exceptionally detailed oriented, and thorough.
  • A good memory and ability to quickly recall information is a must.
  • Ability and willingness to work equally well with a team and independently is required.
  • Ability to take direction from other staff members and collaborate together on projects.
  • Strong organizational skills required.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task efficiently, prioritize, and stay on task with multiple projects at hand in an intense and fast paced and environment.

GALLERY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Must be familiar with the Fine Art edition structures, handling of Fine Art photographs, and the use of archival materials
  • Must be familiar with gallery installation methods and hanging tools/equipment
  • Must be familiar with basic framing methods
  • PC and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, & Outlook) proficient
  • Accuracy with numbers, measuring, fractions, and math skills required
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Adobe Photoshop Proficient (scanning, cropping, and resizing of images)

 Ideal candidate would have prior museum or gallery experience of 3 to 5 years. Knowledge of the History of Photography and Contemporary Photography is greatly preferred. Salary is commensurate with experience.
