In 2007, United Way of Greater Los Angeles launched an ambitious plan to tackle the root causes of poverty in Los Angeles County. As we enter into the eighth year of the Creating Pathways out of Poverty initiative, we are more committed than ever to achieving the following goals:

 *   Ending homelessness
 *   Ensuring every student graduates from high school college and career ready
 *   Ensuring that all families and veterans are financially stable

I am pleased to announce that United Way is now accepting applications for grants in our three priority areas. You can find the Request for Proposals (RFP) on our website at

Proposals are due April 17, 2015 at 5 p.m. PST.

I invite you to attend one of our information sessions to learn more about the RFP process. You may also direct questions to [email protected] mail to:[email protected] or our RFP Message Line at 213-808-6380.

Although the challenges facing Los Angeles County remain significant, I am confident in our ability to continue to build a community where families are financially stable, all of our students graduate, and everyone has a place to call home.
