Spoken word poetry is powerful. It ignites hearts and minds. When inspiredby classic poetry, it becomes alchemical. The Get Lit - Words Ignitecommunity sparks this process.

Get Lit needs one more person to join our high functioning team.  Someonewho writes, reads, and loves performance. Someone who wants to learn a profession that pays you to write; someone with a poetic heart who is also excited by the prospect of a functional spreadsheet.  We seek a natural collaborator, who can work with our team to craft and package effective proposals that result in funding. Get Lit offers competitive pay commensurate with experience and opportunities for continued professional growth.

Here’s what your work helps to fund: poets, students, teachers, coaches, and mentors who bring the Get Lit Curriculum, which fuses classical poetry with original, spoken word poems, into Los Angeles schools. Get Lit connect connects students with the countywide Classic Slam, where thousands come out to snap their fingers in response to crackling performances. Our award winning troupe, The Get Lit Players, perform in schools, performance venues, festivals, and public spaces throughout Los Angeles, Southern California, and the nation, such as The White House, Lincoln Center, and the Hollywood Bowl. Our organization collaborates with leaders in the political, public benefit, and social arenas to deepen their work and ours.  Get Lit is growing inresponse to the continually increasing demand for our transformative programs that shape leaders, scholars, and whole human beings. We are determined to meet this demand.
