THINHSTUDIO and Phantom Galleries LA offers internships to college and graduate students, recent graduates, and other adults pursuing further experience in the arts. Opportunities are available in the following departments: web and media intern, marketing and communications, and curatorial for our programming in Hawthorne.
Our internships allow participant to develop professional-level responsibilities, receive training and guidance from our knowledgeable staff, as you strengthen the capacity of high-impact, low-resource arts organizers.
Internships are unpaid. However, we offer a small stipend upon completion of 3-4 month term. There is potential for part time work during and after the internship. Curatorial interns may submit proposals for PGLA locations.
Note: PGLA interns are needed at locations on the Westside and on the Downtown LA Art Walk.
Desired skills and experience
The ideal candidate must be outgoing with strong communication skills, detailed oriented, enjoy working in a collaborative environment, an ability to complete projects on-time, a willingness to interact with the public, someone who is passionate, easygoing with a thirst for learning new things. This position will require you to have fun as you learn.
Tasks may include:
Assist with event production (includes coordinating artists, participants, sponsors and volunteers, as well as installations and receptions)
Creating promotional content for email, web, print and for our social media platforms (facebook, twitter, pinerest, flickr etc.) optimizing user experience.
Design showcards and signage for exhibtions
Gallery Assistant
Website support
Knowledge in Wordpress, MS office suite, social media is highly desired. Journalism, graphic design, web design, and/ or multimedia production experience is a plus!
Dates: ASAP, Aug/Sept – Nov/Dec 2014
Commitment: 5-20 hours, highly flexible. Available Saturday evenings for openings.
