Job Title: Marketing and Communications Director

Reports to: Executive Director 

Status: Full Time/ Exempt

Salary: Commensurate with Experience

Anticipated Start Date: Between April 8 and 15, 2015

Objective: The Arts Council for Long Beach (ACLB) is currently engaged in building marketing capacity for the whole arts and cultural community of Long Beach. The Marketing and Communications Director is responsible for positioning the Arts Council as the hub of a city-wide arts marketing initiative, to align the arts community with the City’s goals for economic development. S/he is responsible for strategizing and implementing marketing and communications opportunities for the ACLB, in collaboration with our arts partners. S/he must act as an ambassador for the arts and Long Beach by securing and enhancing relationships with external stakeholders. S/he will manage staff members to coordinate all marketing and communications for the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and oversee implementation of a marketing and audience development plan for the arts in Long Beach
• Supervise the planning, implementation, and content creation of all marketing, public relations, and publications including: website original content, press releases, social media, Long Beach Business Journal Art Matters pages, marketing collateral, district art updates, email marketing communications, etc.
• Ensure the consistency of the ACLB brand and identity on all marketing and community outreach platforms
• Facilitate collaborative marketing projects while working closely with external arts partners 
• Develop and sustain an assessment framework for arts marketing in Long Beach
• Oversee staffing for Collaborative Gallery, communications, marketing, and grants 
• Facilitate grant panels and administration of annual and micro-grants
• Collaborate closely with Executive Director to ensure clear and accurate external messaging 
• Manage annual marketing, grants, and community projects budget
• Act as an ambassador for the arts in Long Beach
• Ensure the consistency of the ACLB brand and identity on all marketing and community outreach platforms
• Manage website traffic to make content decisions
• Staff Marketing Committee and other committees as needed
• Oversee the planning and day to day management of community projects

Qualifications:

• BA required; MBA, MA, or MFA preferred
• Minimum 3 years of marketing, communications, audience development, and/or public relations (non-profit preferred)
• Demonstrated record of accomplishments in effective marketing strategies and excellent strategic planning and organizational skills
• Detail-oriented and able to manage numerous important projects concurrently 
• Effectively motivate staff to meet strict deadlines
• Outstanding analytical skills and intellectual curiosity
• Excellent written and communication skills, demonstrated by samples of published articles, proposals, press releases, reports and/or video scripts
• Enthusiastic, outgoing and confident personal style with excellent interpersonal communication 
• Strong working knowledge and experience in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to work some weekend and evening events
• Proven self -starter, self-motivated, people oriented, team player
• Ability to lift 40 pounds
• Reliable transportation
• CA Driver license
• Ability to perform other duties as necessary
