Mechanic I

The Autry seeks a Mechanic I to assists the Facilities Department with routine inspections, assists in basic repairs, work orders, and minor construction projects.

•Replace all types of light bulbs and trouble shoot related problems
•Complete all work orders (within skill level) delegated through the Director of Facilities or Supervisor
•Clean designated areas including equipment
•Assist Facilities staff members with construction projects or routine repairs
•Basic painting
•Complete Preventative Maintenance checks on a determined basis
•Pick up parts locally for emergency or pending projects
•Assist with all building or office moving projects
•Respond to all building fire alarm and any other emergency calls
•Available and capable for on-call duty when designated
•Perform all basic repairs and maintenance on mechanical, electrical and technical equipment as assigned
•Perform all basic building related equipment repairs as assigned
•Assist with museum special event programs (set up, break down and during the event) 

•Perform other duties as assigned
•May require working long hours and or a rotating shift

•High school diploma; trade school experience preferred
•Minimum of 1 year of experience relating directly to electrical, plumbing, and painting
•Related experience in a museum, hospital or other similar industry
•Valid driver's license in order to drive a company vehicle
•Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to communicate clearly
•The ability to remain calm and positive during stressful situations
•The ability to think quickly and follow directions accurately
•Demonstrated ability and willingness to work independently and/or as part of a team to complete tasks efficiently
•The ability to use hand tools is essential
•Must have the ability to hear machinery sounds, sight to read gauges, blue prints, instructions and the manual dexterity to handle tools of the trade
•The ability to lift 50 lbs. and up to 300 lbs. with assistance
•The ability to balance items, stoop, kneel, crawl and reach overhead and perform work requiring repetitive twisting or pressure involving wrist or hand while making repairs
•The ability to climb ladders of different heights up to twelve foot ladders

•Requires use of computer, physical mobility and stamina. Involves: long periods of standing, walking, or sitting; frequent stooping, and bending. Extended work hours as needed
•May be required to work in a hot, cold or wet location at various times
