Membership Coordinator

 The Autry is dedicated to exploring and sharing the stories, experiences, and perceptions of the diverse peoples of the American West. Through the work of its dynamic staff, the Autry promotes education, research, exhibitions, and public programs.  We are currently seeking a Membership Coordinator to promote and increase growth to membership revenue and number of membership households, assisting with implementing strategies to foster new memberships, renewals, and upgrades, and providing excellent customer service. The positon coordinates membership appeals, including mailings and benefit fulfillment; gift acknowledgement; and member events, and is the primary contact for all matters of member servicing. 

 Essential Functions

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide excellent service through efficient supervision of membership telephone servicing, answering incoming calls to membership office and returning voicemails in a timely manner
  • Answers emails directed to membership office
  • Oversees the implementation of monthly renewal letters
  • Manages all membership mailings from start to finish, including invitations, appeals, and monthly renewal letters
  • Works with Communications and Marketing in coordinating member e-mails, including e-renewals and e-blasts. 
  • Oversees fulfilment of membership benefits, including mailing membership cards and acknowledgement letters
  • Works closely with Development Services in ensuring accuracy of individual membership records in the Raiser’s Edge database
  • Assists with implementation of campaigns and appeals, including developing strategies and drafting appeal letters
  • Using the Raiser’s Edge database, is responsible for completing monthly membership reports
  • Coordinate membership events, including working closely with Autry Catering in planning events, and managing RSVP lists
  • Works closely with Membership and Visitor Services associates to ensure membership policies are being properly communicated at the Visitor Services Desk. 
  • Responsible for efficient filing of membership records, including fulfillment batches, event records, etc. 
  • Assist with administrative tasks as required

 Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and relevant experience
  • Prior experience in fundraising and/or membership activities
  • Time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated written communication skills and strong verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail is essential
  • Experience with event planning and logistics
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office (particularly mail merge functions) is required
  • Ability to generate reports preferably using Raiser’s Edge
  • Knowledge of online communications and social media methods

 Working Conditions

Work is generally performed in an office setting. This position may require some weekend, evening, and off-site work. Additionally, holiday hours may be required for year-end gift processing.
