Title: Musicianship Teacher
Reports to: Artistic Director
Hours: Part-time, 3-4 hours /week; late afternoon and evening classes.
MUSYCA Children’s Choir announces an opening for a musicianship teacher for the 2015-2016 season.
The classes will be heldon Monday and Wednesday in the San Fernando Valley.
Mondays: 5:00pm-6:00pm in Granada Hills.
Wednesdays: 4:30-6:00pm in West Hills.
The course curriculum includes basic elements of music theory with emphasis on development of sight singing aural skills.

MUSYCA (Musical Youth of California) Children's Choir is a multi-level, sequential choral music education program for children and youth, guided by an exceptional faculty. Located in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, MUSYCA brings together gifted young people, ages 4-18 to create a community of singers built on respect, love for music, and artistic excellence. The Mission of MUSYCA Children's Choir is to provide the highest quality of music education to Children and Youth of all religious, ethnic, cultural, and economic backgrounds through study and performance of outstanding choral repertoire. MUSYCA is dedicated to diversity, access, and service to community.
QUALFICATIONS:
- Candidates should hold a college degree in Music or Music Education (or in relevant field), and demonstrate excellent musicianship skills.
- Strong vocal technique.
- Kodály training preferred.
- Experience teaching Recorders.
- Enthusiasm for working with children (grades K-12).
- Minimum of two years of music teaching experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to relate to and engage school-aged children and teenagers.
COMPENSATION: Commensurate with education and experience.
