The Colburn School is a world-class performing arts school where a renowned faculty provides instruction in music, dance and drama to dedicated students of all ages.

The school's state-of-the-art campus is located in the “heart-of-art” of downtown Los Angeles, neighboring Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Music Center, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) and the planned Broad Museum. 


Summary of position: Provides general clerical and administrative support to the Advancement Department. Prepares and maintains files and records. Makes photocopies. 


Essential duties and responsibilities: include the following 

Uses a personal computer and a variety of office software applications including word processing, email, and file management. Prepares documents in Word. Creates or maintains files in Excel. 


Operates office equipment such as printers, copy machines, fax machines. May serve as liaison with service and vendor personnel.


May enter data into Raiser’s Edge database, ensure the accuracy and completeness of the data and generate reports or outputs as needed. 


May perform research and data gathering activities and may prepare reports or summaries of information. Prepares or maintains reports or records.. 


May receive and distribute mail and other correspondence. 


May have some or all responsibility for department supplies and inventories. Tracks status and orders, maintains or distributes as needed. 


Prepares and maintains files. 


Coordinates and organizes meetings, and other department activities and functions. May schedule or obtain use of rooms and may set up rooms and equipment for use. 


Attends and participates in meetings and committees and may take minutes or notes and perform follow-up activities. 


May provide administrative support or assistance to other areas of the School as needed. 


Performs other related duties as assigned. 


Knowledge, skills and education: 


High School or equivalent experience; background in classical music is a plus but not required. Strong proficiency in written and spoken English. MS Word, Excel, Internet. Strong customer service skills, pleasant personality even when under pressure or fatigued, strong organizational skills, with great attention to details, good team skills, with ability to act independently.
