The international University of British Columbia (UBC) Centre for Cultural Planning and Development is offering a new session of an online professional development workshop, Cultural Entrepreneurship by Dr. Lidia Varbanova, starting June 16. This workshop can be taken individually for professional development, or applied to the UBC Certificate in Cultural Planning - an international professional learning program delivered 100% online.

Online Workshop: Cultural Entrepreneurship Three scheduled online sessions. Tue June 16, 23 & 30 from 11am-1pm PST (Pacific Time).

Registration closes June 2

This online workshop focuses on the essence, uniqueness and importance of cultural entrepreneurship in the overall strategic management and policy-making process. An important aspect of the workshop is ‘intrapreneurship’ in the cultural sector and how to manage internal innovations in a systematic way. We identify key issues and suggest strategic solutions for the development of organizations, as well as from the perspective of cultural policy-making. This online workshop includes practical case studies from around the world and examines critical questions such as:

·  How can cultural planners, managers, and policy-makers promote a proper environment in which cultural entrepreneurship can flourish?

· What strategies do cultural entrepreneurs need in order to manage a start-up creative enterprise in a sustainable mode?

· What is the role of strategic alliances, networking, collaboration and partnership in the entrepreneurial practice in the cultural sector?

INSTRUCTOR: Dr. Lidia Varbanova has over 20 years of professional experience as a consultant, researcher and lecturer in more than 50 countries. She focuses on strategy, entrepreneurship, management, online technologies and organizational development and change, with special emphasis on arts, culture and creative industries. Her most recent publication is Strategic Management in the Arts (2013).
