The Young Storytellers Foundation develops literacy through the art of storytelling. Using group exercises and oneonone mentoring, we provide underserved children in the public school system an opportunity to write stories and see them brought to life through performance and film production. Our mission is to inspire children to discover the power of their own voice.

Position
Reporting to and in partnership with the Executive Director (ED), the Operations Manager will spearhead operations, fund development & marketing efforts as Young Storytellers continues to grow. A new position in the organization, the Operations Manager will have the opportunity to build the operations, development & marketing functions of an innovative and expanding nonprofit.
Responsibilities General Operations

● Identify best practices and improve internal systems

● Assist with management of shared office space

● Be responsible for office supply inventory
-
● Partner with the ED in essential internal leadership activities including human resources,
financial controls, administration, and organizational planning.
Fund Development
-
● Develop and execute Young Storytellers Foundation’s annual fundraising plan
-
● Partner with ED to secure financial support from individuals, foundations and corporations
-
● Manage the implementation of NationBuilder to track donors and contributions
-
● Research potential foundation and corporate funders and manage the application process
-
● Create and execute a strategy for a large sustained base of annual individual donors including
the creation of fundraising campaigns

● Oversee organization and production of a minimum of 4 special events each year

● Develop and track proposals and reports for all foundation and corporate fundraising
Marketing & Communications

● Develop, implement, and evaluate an annual communications plan
-
● Lead the generation of online content via social media & website that engages YSF’s
audiences and leads to measurable action.

● Manage the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral
including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, handbooks, Annual Report and The
Young Storytellers Foundation’s website

● Coordinate webpage and social media maintenance—ensure that new and consistent
information (article links, stories, and events) is posted regularly

● Track and measure the level of online engagement over time

● Oversee production of photo and video materials for use in fundraising, marketing &
communications
Qualifications
Required
-
● Passionate about Young Storytellers Foundation’s mission and impact
-
● Bachelor’s Degree
-
● Minimum 35 years experience in marketing, entertainment, or fundraising
-
● Selfstarter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and
implementing new initiatives
-
● Proven ability to work with efficiency, flexibility, and good humor
-
● Experience developing and implementing communications and fundraising strategies
-
● Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills
-
● A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives
concurrently

● Operates with excellence in mind in all matters, with the confidence to defend/debate ideas
without ego interfering

● Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in organizational settings

● Highly proficient with social media & standard computer software (MS Office, Google Drive)
Preferred

● Master’s Degree

● Experience and demonstrated excellence in copywriting and graphic design

● Experience and demonstrated excellence in photography and video production

● Proficiency using WordPress, In Design, Photoshop, NationBuilder, QuickBooks, iMovie, &
Final Cut Pro.

● Educational or Professional Background in theatre or film industry
