Special Event Coordinator
Limited-Term Position

The City is seeking a creative, highly collaborative professional who thrives on the challenge of coordinating special events and is a team player who can effectively liaison with individuals, community organizations, contractors and vendors. The current opening is a limited-term (six-month) assignment in the Cultural Affairs Department.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Work with City departments and Public Information staff on planning, coordinating and implementing special events.
  • Coordinate event logistics, publicity, advertising and collateramaterial utilizing website, social media, public events, meetings, and presentations.
  • Cultivate and expand vendor and community participation.
  • Work with various individuals, sponsors, groups and project manager(s) to execute requirements.
  • Supervise and coordinate with event contractors, vendors and volunteers.

The successful candidate must possess:

  • A proven track record of coordinating special events.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Two or more years of experience in event planning and execution.
  • BA/BS in Business, Management, Marketing or a related field is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, strong knowledge/familiarity with Internet, social media and web-based communications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications/interpersonal skills.

This is a limited-term (six-month) part-time position – Approximately 29 hours per week
