Upper Grade "Studio Lab" Teacher/Facilitator Needed
STEAM Ahead with Walgrove Elementary!
Walgrove Elementary School, a public LAUSD school serving approximately 350 students in kindergarten through 5th grade has an innovative, materials-based Studio Lab program to support the integration of content areas through project-based learning with a STEAM focus. Our Studio Lab builds the creative, collaborative, and problem-solving skills that will lead students to be prepared for 21st century careers.
Walgrove is seeking a part-time Studio Lab Teacher/Facilitator for the 2014-2015 school year to work in conjunction with another teacher/facilitator (grades K-2) to perform the following:
(1) Collaborate and plan with nine (9) classroom teachers in the upper grades (primarily
3-5) to develop, prepare for, and implement materials-based lessons/units of study for both the classroom and Studio Lab space that integrate multiple content areas utilizing a STEAM focus aligned with Common Core State Standards
(2) Clean and maintain Studio Lab room
(3) Manage, order and maintain Studio Lab equipment and supplies
(4) Unpack and set up Studio Lab in August
(5) Participate in staff professional development meetings on Tuesdays as appropriate,
as jointly agreed upon by instructor and administrator
(6) Pack room for cleaning and maintenance in June
(7) Documentation of Lab projects for students, parents and community through written
descriptions of projects, content areas integrated, standards addressed, photographs
of students working, and/or student work samples
(8) Help prepare for and participate in school events, such as Back-to-School and Open
House.
The Studio Lab Teacher/Facilitator will be an employee of the Friends of Walgrove, the parent supported Booster Club for the school. 24 hours per week. $30/hour. Please contact Olivia Adams, Principal, at [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> with resume and references if interested.
