DESCRIPTION
Los Angeles Contemporary Art Gallery is looking to hire a full-time, Front Desk Gallery Assistant to support the staff in a variety of administrative duties.
The successful candidate will be a highly organized, articulate and personable individual with a bachelor's degree in art history and previous administrative experience in a gallery or museum setting. He or she must present a professional appearance and be capable of multi-tasking under pressure.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Answering phones
- Greeting visitors
- Opening and closing the gallery daily
- Booking travel, restaurant reservations and assisting in correspondence for Gallery Owner and Director
- Updating the gallery's mailing list, directories and calendar
- Coordinating building maintenance by contacting vendors and confirming appointments
- Ordering and maintaining office and packing supplies
- Creating e-mail announcements for exhibitions, art fairs and gallery news
- Sorting mail and filing documents
- Hosting opening reception and events
- Liaising with Press Coordinator
- Working with Bookkeeper to maintain records
- Maintaining social media presence
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in art history, studio art, business or related field
- Preferred candidates will have past experience working in a gallery, museum, or auction house for at least one year, or have had multiple internships
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills – both phone and email etiquette
- Must be available to work gallery openings on some weeknights and also on Saturdays.
- Well versed in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
- Prior experience with FileMaker Pro or data entry
