JOB DESCRIPTION
Arts for LA seeks a passionate, engaged, and detail-oriented advocate to serve as our Fundraising and Development Intern to help fuel our programs and operations. Arts for LA relies on a diverse set of fundraising strategies that includes foundation and corporate partnerships, individual giving and membership programs, contracting and special events. The primary project for the Fundraising and Development Intern is to organize, update, and make recommendations to optimize the fundraising strategies used throughout the year to support the programming and mission of the organization. Working closely with the Executive Director and Director of Programs, the Fundraising and Development Intern will get hands-on experience in researching new leads and preparing background information prior to funder meetings, assisting with data management, structuring campaign timelines, building grant narratives, strategizing new ways to engage with our growing list of donors, and producing acknowledgment letters. The Intern will also gain understanding in the relationship between development, programming, and marketing.

 

QUALIFICATIONS
The Fundraising and Development Intern will work closely with the Executive Director during the critical summer months to develop fundraising strategies to be implemented throughout the year. Successful candidates will have some experience and/or deep interest in grant writing, research, creative writing, fundraising, social media and familiarity with Microsoft Office.

 

ELIGIBILITY
2019 Arts Internship positions will be open to currently enrolled undergraduate (2 or 4-year) college students who reside or attend college in Los Angeles County. Recent graduates may apply as long as they have completed their degree between May 1 - September 1, 2019. Arts for LA 
encourages eligible students from all ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as disabled students, to apply. Students who are invited to participate in the program will be asked to provide verification of eligibility via college transcripts, driver’s license and other documents to show enrollment status and/or LA County residence. There are no exceptions to our eligibility requirements.

 

SALARY
The Fundraising and Development Intern will be paid $5,700 ($14.25/hour, or $570/week for a 40-hour week) for their 400-hour long internships over the course of 10 weeks.
