Santa Monica Cultural Affairs (SMCA) presents a year-round series of temporary exhibitions at the Annenberg Community Beach House. These showcase the work of emerging and established Los Angeles County artists, providing visitors with fun, provocative, engaging works in an unexpected context. SMCA welcomes proposals from curators for group exhibitions (of three or more artists), with emerging-to-established artists and artist groups. Curators and artists must be based in Los Angeles County. The 2020 theme of exhibitions in 2020 is “Activism” and the terms are January - April, May-August, or September - December 2020. A stipend of $1500 is offered to the successful applicant.

The Camera Obscura Art Lab hosts a Studio Residency Program that offers artists a glass-walled studio with a spectacular ocean view in an iconic midcentury park building overlooking the Santa Monica Pier, four blocks away from the terminus of the Expo line. The City seeks artists and artisans whose work offers opportunity to inspire the public through example and instruction. All disciplines and mediums will be considered. This Studio Residency spans 14 weeks and three terms are available; January 8 – April 15, 2020; April 22 – July 29, 2020, or August 5 – November 11, 2020. Two individual artists, one collective, or a combination shares the 46’x16’ dividable studio space during each time period. A stipend of $2,000 and use of the facility for a final exhibit/presentation is offered to the successful applicant.
