The University of Southern California (USC) Pacific Asia Museum seeks a highly organized and motivated Interim Youth and Family Programs Coordinator (Resource Worker) to join our team on a fixed-term basis. Reporting to the Director of the USC Pacific Asia Museum, the Interim Youth and Family Programs Coordinator will act as a temporary replacement while the regular staff member is on maternity leave. They will implement activities and programs designed to serve k-12 and family audiences.
The position will be responsible for managing scheduled programs and assisting the education department with planning and events. The position will be essential in maintaining diverse programming and community partnerships, which aim to foster the museum’s mission of furthering intercultural understanding through the arts of Asia and the Pacific Islands.

USC PACIFIC ASIA MUSEUM
USCPacific Asia Museum is the only museum devoted to the arts and culture of Asia and Pacific Islands located within a major research university. The Museum is housed in a registered historical building in the style of a Chinese courtyard located in Pasadena, CA. Its collection of over 15,000 pieces encompasses a wide range of art and cultural traditions from Asia and Pacific Islands and spans more than five thousand years. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Assist School Tours Coordinator with Distance Learning and School Tours
Implement and coordinate scheduled family programs, including Free Second Sundays, ArtNight Pasadena, Lunar New Year, and more
Work closely with Docent Council to schedule meetings, oversee training planning, process purchasing, maintain tour schedules, and provide general assistance
Manage schedules and track time of five part-time employees
Assist Public and Campus Programs Specialist with public programs as needed, including workshops and conversations
Communicate with community partners, teachers, and constituents as needed
Collaborate with marketing team on promoting upcoming k-12 and family programs in social media, website, newsletter, and other collateral
Assist with coordinating new events that arise during interim
Purchase program supplies
Implement established evaluation tools to measure program effectiveness in meeting goals and audience needs
Provide information, reports, and statistics needed for grant applications and reports
Help maintain departmental budget and monitor expenses
Performs other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
AA or BA in education, art history, museum studies, fine arts or a related field is required. In addition, candidates must have:
1-3 years of experience in museum or arts education
Experience with schedule maintenance
Excellent, proven communication skills along with strong writing, verbal, and public speaking skills needed for interacting with parents, educators, volunteers, museum staff and other constituents
Ability to work productively with diverse constituencies, including schools, community agencies, institutions, and the public
Proven skill at assisting large and small-scale events and projects
Aptitude for detail and ability to work both independently as well as in a team setting
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and social media is required.
SCHEDULE & INCOME
$25 /HR. Full time for up to 16 weeks. Schedule varies and includes some evenings and weekends.
