Paid Arts Internship with the inclusive Studios of Tierra del Sol
Paid Internship: $16.90 per hour for 400-hour internship.
15 hours per week June 2023 through January 2024.

Tierra is seeking an Arts Management Intern to support career artists who have developmental disabilities, to develop and maintain art portfolios. Portfolios, along with a consistent review process, allow artists to develop their skills, as well as receive formal critique and mentoring regarding their technique and work habits. The intern will use retrieval systems (used globally in museums, galleries, and art agencies) as they review physical art inventory, take high-quality photos, document each image, and save and upload the photos to the archival system. Through this project, the intern will advance Tierra’s mission, vision, and values by expanding the impact of the artists’ work, appreciating the talent of career artists, and making it possible for people to appreciate the individual contributions of these artists, regardless of the fact that they have disabilities. This position will work approximately 15 hours per week from June 2023 through January 2024.

Tierra is looking for someone with a passion for art and social justice, is self-motivated, can work independently or collaboratively, and is able to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, expanding environment. Based on public health guidance and Tierra policy, applicants should be comfortable working remotely, meeting via Zoom, and working in person as needed. Tierra is a drug- and alcohol-free work environment. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements found here: https://www.lacountyarts.org/opportunities/arts-internship-program-students/arts-internship-program-students-eligibility
New hires must pass a pre-employment criminal background check, physical, drug screen, and TB test. During the pandemic, all employees are required to follow social distancing, universal indoor masking, frequent handwashing, and weekly COVID testing provided by Tierra.

Tierra del Sol Foundation is a Los Angeles nonprofit organization seeking to fulfill its mission to champion inclusion and value for individuals with disabilities (e.g., intellectual disabilities, autism, and cerebral palsy), through creative pathways to employment, education, and the arts. Tierra’s vision is that, regardless of the notion of disability, all people live productive and personally meaningful lives. We do this by providing Workforce Development, Careers in the Arts, and College to Career services to almost 800 individuals in the San Fernando, Santa Clarita, and San Gabriel Valleys each day, while living our values of Person-Centeredness, Passion, Honesty, Respect, and Full Engagement.
