The Film and Video Poetry Society
Los Angeles, Ca
Overview:
Our boutique poetry and cinema platform is seeking a dedicated, art-minded professional to serve as Circulation Manager (or Institutional Liaison) for a small series of limited-edition fine art and poetry publications. The role would ask for your time and attention for 1 month. The primary goal is to secure placement of 5–10 copies within respected museum and library collections worldwide.
This is a grassroots, independent endeavor. We’re a small team doing our best with limited resources, working from genuine passion and belief in the work itself. The position operates as a freelance / contract collaboration on a pay-as-we-accomplish basis, and while we cannot offer major funding, we can offer real creative partnership and professional credit.
Salesmanship in the traditional sense is not required; success depends on your ability to navigate institutional acquisition processes and to present the work with grace, clarity, and authenticity.
Compensation:
$200 USD stipend, credited as Circulation Manager / Institutional Liaison on the publication record.
$35 USD for each verified institutional or library placement (goal: 5–10 placements).
Further compensation available for confirmed institutional purchases, if such situations arise—though this is not a core objective, simply an acknowledgment of potential outcomes.
Scope of Work:
Research and contact libraries, museums, and academic institutions regarding artist book acquisitions via phone and email.
Facilitate submissions or acquisitions according to each institution’s process. All documents and packages have been designed and completed. Our goal is for placement and in take within a collection not to distribute for sale or resale.
Confirm placement with catalog listings and documentation.
Notify publisher for shipment and intake confirmation.
