The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) seeks a Gallery Lighting Assistant responsible for supporting the Gallery Lighting team in the implementation and maintenance of exhibition lighting design.

Some duties include:

Assisting Gallery Lighting Designer with the exhibition lighting;
preparation of lighting equipment; lighting focus for installations; maintenance of lighting design for all open exhibitions; de-installation of exhibition lighting; maintenance of lighting storage spaces and carts; maintenance of inventory of lamps, lighting material and supplies; repair and service of light fixtures and accessories; maintenance of lighting scissor lift fleet by performing routine basic maintenance and safety checks; processing work order requests for extended lighting hours; use of time and project management software; use of G-suite apps including Gmail, Calendar & Sheets; communicating effectively and clearly with colleagues, management and other departments; performing other duties or special projects as assigned; maintaining regular and reliable attendance.

The qualified candidate should have at least 3 years of professional experience in lighting for museums, motion picture, television or theater.

Must possess a valid class C California driver’s license.

Aerial lift certification required. Ability to effectively communicate via phone, text, email and radio.

Ability to problem solve and work well under pressure with conflicting demands.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as lighting designs, plot plans, operating manuals and maintenance instructions.

Ability to understand and follow direction, guidelines, procedures and institutional standards.
