Reporting to the Director of Individual Giving, the Membership and Annual Fund Manager will oversee the Membership and Annual Fund programs at MOCA and is charged with meeting funding targets of over $1 million in annual support, contributing to the overall growth of individual giving. The manager is responsible for the museum’s entire membership program, including acquisitions, renewals, upgrades and benefit fulfillment. The manager is also responsible for creating, planning and implementing all aspects of the museum’s twice yearly Annual Fund campaigns targeted to members, annual fund donors and non members.

The selected candidate will effectively grow awareness of MOCA’s Membership and Annual Fund programs; develop and execute a bespoke calendar of programming; serve as a key public interface between the museum and its members; and increase MOCA’s donor base by implementing data-driven tactics. Through targeted direct marketing campaigns via analog and digital channels that include direct mail, email, website, and advertising, the Membership and Annual Fund Manager will establish strategic objectives and implement short-and long-term tactics that leverage MOCA’s brand and mission.

Salary Range: $70,000.00 – $75,000.00


  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 3 years of membership, marketing, or fundraising experience.
  • Broad knowledge of the principles of fundraising and marketing with the ability to participate in all aspects of the gift cycle, including identification, cultivation, point of sale, and stewardship.
  • Ability to effectively managing direct mail campaigns targeted to individual donors.
  • Proven event management expertise with the ability to take an event from conception through completion.
  • Track record of strong customer service experience, an ability to communicate effectively and experience presenting a compelling case for support.
  • General knowledge and interest in contemporary art and an understanding of the organizational structure and procedures at museums or other non-profit arts institutions.
  • Ability to work independently while being an integral member of a high-functioning team.
  • Self-starter able to meet deadlines, work collaboratively and manage several projects at once, including ability to handle confidential information with complete discretion.
  • Prior experience in successful appeal solicitation writing
  • Knowledge of how to build and track budgets
  • Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software such as Google Cloud Services, CRM Database such as Altru and Raiser’s Edge, Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Available to work events on evenings and weekends as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Establish and execute a strategic vision for MOCA’S Membership and Annual Fund programs, generating income from donors through strategic multichannel marketing efforts.
  • Develop and refine membership programming and benefits that reflect MOCA’s mission.
  • Create a comprehensive Annual Fund campaign strategy, with clearly defined goals, compelling content, and data-driven tactics.
  • Meet or exceed the goals as established.
  • Create and implement an annual calendar of Member events.
  • Manage all communication, appeals, renewals, upgrades, and stewardship for members and donors.
  • Collaborate with internal partners, including Design, Curatorial, and Marketing Departments, as well as outside vendors, to ensure the timely production and approval of print, email, and online campaign assets; guide the development and design direction for these fundraising materials.
  • Regularly write fresh copy and content to use across channels.
  • Develop calendar and strategy for Annual Fund direct mail and digital marketing efforts.
  • Work collaboratively and in coordination with the Director of Individual Giving and Associate Director of Advancement Operations to identify and solicit new prospect pools.
  • Partner with Patron Groups Assistant to ensure proper acknowledgment of all gifts, and create stewardship plan for donors.
  • Create analytic reports on each campaign and provide YTD revenue analysis to ensure financial objectives are met.
  • Provide direction and training to on-site membership sales staff.
  • Track revenue and expense budgets.
  • Other projects and duties as deemed necessary.
