Studio Assistant & Pottery Instructor

Bitter Root Pottery is looking for dependable, creative, and team-oriented Studio Assistants & Pottery Instructors to help support the daily operations of our community ceramics studio. This is a hands-on role that combines customer service, studio organization, pottery processing, cleaning and maintenance, event support, and ceramics instruction.
Our team members help create a welcoming, organized, and inspiring environment for students, members, and guests while supporting the flow of studio operations behind the scenes.
Responsibilities Include:
Teaching wheel throwing and/or handbuilding classes for adults, children, private groups, and events
Assisting students and members with studio questions, memberships, pickups, bookings, and reservations
Processing pottery, including labeling, glazing, reglazing, organizing, and tracking student work
Loading and unloading kilns and assisting with general clay and glaze operations
Maintaining studio cleanliness and organization throughout all shared spaces
Opening and closing the studio, completing daily operational tasks, and communicating shift updates with staff
Supporting private events, workshops, camps, and community programming
Responding to emails and communicating professionally with guests and team members
Ensuring a safe, positive, and supportive studio experience for all visitors
Ideal Candidates Will Have:
Experience in ceramics, wheel throwing, and/or handbuilding
Strong communication and customer service skills
The ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
A positive, proactive, and collaborative attitude
Comfort working independently and as part of a team
Availability on evenings and weekends
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Whether teaching classes, helping customers, processing pottery, or supporting studio upkeep, every member of our team plays an important role in keeping the studio running smoothly.
Part-time and flexible scheduling available.
Salary: $18.75, hourly (plus commission on classes)
Benefits: Cal Savers, Sick Pay, Commission rates for classes taught
Education requirements: High School diploma
