Position Seeking: City Council

Question 1: Please share a meaningful experience you had with art (visual, dance, drama, music, media arts) while growing up and its impact on you.

I grew up playing piano and was in band class for the majority of my time in Jr. High and High School. It was, and continues to be a time for me to focus and escape from from world around me.

Question 2: What do you believe the role of City Council should be in developing and supporting the region’s arts and cultural infrastructure?

We have a role to help with the cultural arts in the community. Having great community programs for all ages, and bringing people together to share our different cultures and heritage.

Question 3: What’s your vision for the city? What role, if any, does art and culture play in advancing that vision?

Ideally with new developments that happen around town whether it is residential, or commercial I truly believe having an art component can enhance the development and increases our quality of life. Art to a development can bring a uniqueness to the project than ust “another building.”

Questions 4: A recent report by the Otis College of Design found that 1 in every 6 jobs in LA County supports the creative sector and economy in Los Angeles County. If elected, how will you aim to ensure the continued vitality and growth of the creative economy and the artistic community that it supports?

Continuing our great art/music/cultural programs we have in our city. I would encourage others to also get more involved in city government and take part of our local commission.
