City: Rancho Palos Verdes
Position Seeking: City Council

Question 1: Please share a meaningful experience you had with art (visual, dance, drama, music, media arts) while growing up and its impact on you.

I have personally participated in plays, music and dance programs throughout my life. Both of my children play music and perform and my husband and I are big fans of musicals. We recently attended School of Rock in NY. Each experience provides me with a feeling of appreciation and awe at the talent each person has. I appreciate all forms of art available in Los Angeles and the world at large.

Question 2: What do you believe the role of City Council should be in developing and supporting the region’s arts and cultural infrastructure?

City Council should be supportive of arts programs available in the city as appropriate. We benefit from our local institutions and should encourage local participation.

Question 3: What’s your vision for the city? What role, if any, does art and culture play in advancing that vision?

My vision for the City of Rancho Palos Verdes is to have a community that is connected and enjoys a partnership with residents and community organizations that benefit all residents in the community. From our youth organizations to arts and entertainment, having a variety of ways to express talent benefits all residents.

Question 4: A recent report by the Otis College of Design found that 1 in every 6 jobs in LA County supports the creative sector and economy in Los Angeles County. If elected, how will you aim to ensure the continued vitality and growth of the creative economy and the artistic community that it supports?

My entire family and extended family are consumers of artistic endeavors and enjoy musical concerts, plays and musicals and other areas of self-expression and I would continue to advocate for the arts where appropriate in Rancho Palos Verdes.
