The Opportunity
Environmental Charter Schools is seeking a talented and dynamic founding Art Instructor passionate about preparing low-income students of color for college success.

● Design and implement visual art instruction for students in grades 6-12 during the academic
school year and participates in pre-plan and post-planning meetings with co-teachers
● Be passionate about visual arts and have a working knowledge of all middle and high school art subjects
● Be well versed in fine arts materials to allow students to explore creativity different mediums.
● Utilize a variety of instructional strategies based on the diverse needs of all the students that engage all students
● Be encouraging and able to inspire students to practice skills that may be uncomfortable at first.
● Maintain and organize art supplies, providing input to staff for ordering and replenishing.
● Build relationships with all students that demonstrate mutual respect and compassion
● Know a lot about history or literature, and can see connections between the art curriculum.
● Model a personal code of ethics aligned with ECS Mission and Vision
● Other duties as assigned

● A Bachelor degree (BA, BS, etc.) in a related field preferred
● Experience teaching middle school or high school students preferred
● Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and administrators
● Commitment to the success of all students and the ECS mission, vision, and values
