Hauser & Wirth is one of the world’s leading contemporary art galleries with offices in Zurich,
Gstaad, London, Somerset, Hong Kong, New York and Los Angeles. Hauser & Wirth Los
Angeles, located in a historic 100,000 square foot flour mill complex in the city’s burgeoning
downtown Arts District, opened to the public in March 2016. The gallery transformed the site’s
sprawling collection of late 19th and early 20th century buildings and outdoor spaces into a
dynamic multi-disciplinary arts center. The new venue offers innovative exhibitions, museum-
caliber amenities, and a robust schedule of public programs that contextualize the art on view,
drawing upon, illuminating, and contributing to the urban culture of Los Angeles.
The position requires extensive experience in logistics as well as general registration practices.
The Registrar will be expected to primarily manage client shipping and intercompany shipments.
The Registrar also is expected to understand customs requirements, tax implications, and various
other logistical topics. The Registrar is expected to plan, communicate multi-task, and act
independently and collaboratively as the projects require.
Main duties include but are not limited to:
Organize intercompany shipments with domestic and international locations in New York, Zurich, London, Somerset and Hong Kong.
Organize conservation treatments as required.
Arrange artist studio shipping needs.
Organize international art fair shipments from US.
Compile condition reports for all related works.
Update artwork details in database as needed.
Organize exhibitions in our Los Angeles location as required.
Organize client shipments along with another registrar.
Organize offsite viewings and photography as required.
Process invoices/payments related to above jobs in conjunction with accounting department.
A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in registration, preferably in an art gallery / fine art shipping
Extensive knowledge of logistics (shipping, handling, packing and storage)
In-depth knowledge of various materials and techniques
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to work collaboratively and follow instructions
Travel might be required
