Los Angeles Modern Auctions (LAMA), the leading auction house on the West Coast for modern art and
design, seeks a full-time Marketing & Communications Specialist. The Marketing & Communications
Specialist is responsible for implementing and maintaining marketing and communications for LAMA. The
ideal candidate is creative, detail-oriented and organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume working
environment with a high level of experience in Photoshop and InDesign.
• Produce graphics for website and other online and print communications
• Edit, organize, and archive all image files. Including cropping, color correcting, editing, renaming,
and batching image files for print, databases, and online
• Create and publish marketing correspondence (blog posts, email blasts, etc.)
• Assist with postings and edits to the LAMA website
• Maintain branding for the auction house
• Seek and negotiate advertising trades that advance the LAMA brand and increase visibility
• Manage and implement LAMA’s social media accounts
• Monitor and interpret analytics for website, email newsletters, and social media
• Draft press releases and other initiatives and coordinate press previews
• Organize LAMA’s image files including advanced image editing
• Complete various auction preview tasks (including in-house photography sessions)
• Proof and edit all copy including catalogue text, website material, email campaigns, press releases
• Update and maintain email distribution lists
• Maintain internal marketing calendar (writing assignments, social media postings, art openings,
• Support collateral design needs for the organization using brand guidelines. Ordering and updating
letterhead, envelopes, buck slips, business cards, press packets, forms, and registration cards.
• Monitor activity on digital channels (web, social media, email, etc.) to identify new needs and
opportunities for brand awareness
• Advanced photo editing with Photoshop and InDesign for print and online
• Minimum 2 years of experience of applicable marketing or communications experience
• Knowledge and experience of web analytical tools such as Google Analytics
• Familiarity with web design and HTML
• Experience converting digital marketing strategy into actionable campaign deliverables
• Exceptional written communication skills
• Acute attention to detail
• Excellent organizational and project implementation skills
• Effective performance under accelerated deadlines and with last-minute assignments
• Must possess personal ownership and accountability for projects, goals, and outcomes
• Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
• Knowledge of FileMaker Pro, relevant art history and art market trends is an advantage
