Marketing Coordinator Position

The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens

The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens is seeking an energetic, innovative professional to create and implement successful marketing strategies at The Huntington. Aspects include interpreting marketing research; developing and launching sales and marketing campaigns; analyzing the results and applying analytics; and working alongside Huntington Store colleagues to enhance and update website. While the Huntington Store and dining are focus areas for marketing, other revenue-generating areas will be included, such as marketing rental spaces, and engaging niche audiences in The Huntington. The incumbent will be comfortable using social media to reach target audiences and be responsible for some web editing and posting.

The position reports to the Director of Marketing Communications working alongside the Director of Web Development. The position is part of the communications and marketing team. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, able to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. He/she will be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously with the ability to produce content that meets the high quality standards of The Huntington. He/she will be a seasoned team player with the ability to work with staff within the Communications and Marketing Office as well as across the institution, including Huntington Store, special events, and food services staff.

Essential Functions

  • Working for the Director of Marketing Communications, conceive, develop, and produce marketing content that promotes Huntington products and services while strengthening Huntington brands

  • Working in tandem with Huntington Store personnel, create and implement marketing plans, including creating and uploading content to Store website

  • Working with The Huntington’s food service provider and Communications and Marketing staff, develop and implement marketing campaigns focusing the institution as a dining destination

  • Target specific online media outlets, including food blogs and gift guides; influential, and specialized groups (such as mommy bloggers and others)

  • Run regular analytic reports and use results to inform future marketing campaigns, and conduct regular research on search engine optimization, tracking results

  • Keep abreast of industry trends and incorporate them into campaigns as appropriate


  • Formal marketing training or equivalent work experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • Proven track record in creating meaningful and engaging content, including writing, editing, and photography

  • Ability to conceive and implement both online and bricks-and- mortar marketing strategies using web-based platforms, social media, and legacy media approaches

  • Proven experience with SEO best practices including meta data and keywords

  • Excellent written and oral skills

  • Excellent command of common industry applications [especially PhotoShop, InDesign, Illustrator, DreamWeaver, Shopify]

  • Experience with HTML/CSS, Wordpress

  • Proven track record in producing and implementing data-driven marketing plans, showing measurable results

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines

  • Comfortable working with a wide range of decision-makers

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven track record in working well in teams, but also proven ability to work independently

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills

  • Work and time management skills, including flexibility, punctuality, reliability, and adaptability


  • 3-5 years of experience in marketing; marketing in a nonprofit, museum or cultural institution preferable
  • 3-5 years producing web and social media content
