POSITION: MEDIA ARTS DEPARTMENT : ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

COMPENSATION: STARTS AT $20/HR, FULL TIME WITH PAID VACATION, PAID HOLIDAYS, 401K, AND HEALTH BENEFITS AVAILABLE.

SUMMARY:

The Media Arts Assistant department director helps to oversee our after school media arts enrichment program. This program offers various classes and summer camps for elementary school kids that cover a range of digital media, including film making, animation, and digital photography. Ideal candidate would be proficient in video production and editing, have strong administrative skills, have teaching experience, and a passion for working with kids. This position will be both administrative and creative.

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Scheduling and communicating with teachers

  • Developing curriculum

  • Managing equipment inventory

  • Teaching Media Arts classes to elementary school students

  • Preparing budgets

  • Promoting and planning summer camps

  • Programming student film festivals

  • Managing youtube channel and social media

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.

 

Experience: 1-2 years of administrative experience preferred. Experience working in education and/or non-profit organizations a plus. Teaching experience strongly preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent written and spoken communication and interpersonal skills

  • Exemplary organizational, time management, project management, file management, and event coordination skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and follow through on projects/tasks

  • Stellar editing and proofreading skills

  • Advanced knowledge using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Macintosh or PC platform required. Experience with Google Drive also helpful

  • Familiarity with video streaming and social media platforms

  • Understanding of graphic design

  • Strong video production and video editing skills

  • Friendly, outgoing professional presence in telephone and face-to-face communication

  • Ability to work independently and quickly

  • Flexibility in adapting to the current needs of the organization or project

  • Creativity, curiosity, and a good sense of humor

  • Passion for arts or arts education

  • Experience dealing with the issues and concerns of California’s diverse student population

  • Proficiency in FCP, Premiere, iMovie and other video production software

  • Ability to work quickly and problem solve in dynamic environment
