A Place Called Home has a great temporary opportunity for a professional in the music industry to support the mission and vision of the organization by assisting the music department deliver programming that will shape the future of the youth participating in the programs.

A Place Called Home is a dynamic, non-profit youth and community center in South Central Los Angeles. APCH provides educational programs, counseling, mentoring, music, dance and art classes, fitness and health and wellness opportunities. As youth participate in our programs, they discover interests and talents and develop a better sense of themselves and their place in the world around them. Our goal is to increase the likelihood that youth will stay in school, pursue higher education, attain viable jobs, and become active community members capable of making positive change in the world in which they live.

 

Job Title: Music Program Assistant
Department: Music 
Reports to: Sr. Music Program Manager    
Hours: 25 hours per week, Monday-Friday, $17-$20 /hr
FLSA: Temporary Assignment 
 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Instruct Classes scheduled for programs between 3pm to 6:30pm
  • Provide basic admin support for classes and Programs
  • Complete administrative duties as assigned and executed in a timely manner
  • Assist with the supervision of members during program hours, special events and field trips
  • Chaperone members on department and agency field trips
  • Serve as a mentor and role model for members
  • Work with the entire music team to produce music department events and provide support for all agency events
  • Assist department staff in preparing member assessments, correspondence and data entry
  • Assist contractors and staff in classroom management and virtual class creation
  • Perform other tasks as assigned
Qualifications

Education/Training/Experience

  • Background in music  and or related field
  • 1 year of administrative experience
  • Experience working with youth 
  • Able to work in a dynamic and high noise level environment typical of a youth center
