The award-winning Latino Theater Company at the Los Angeles Theater Center is dedicated to contributing new stories to the American theater repertoire and increasing opportunities in theater for underserved communities. As the nation's largest theater company serving Latinx audiences, we produce work by local playwrights and highlight new voices within the Latinx, First Nation, Black, Asian American, Jewish American and LGBTQ+ communities. Located in Downtown Los Angeles, our world-class arts complex has 80,000 square feet of performance, office and gallery space.
With support from several national foundations, the National Latinx Theater Initiative (NLTI) is a distinct re-granting program managed by the Latino Theater Company that will provide unprecedented financial assistance for Latinx theaters across the United States and Puerto Rico through General Operating Support grants. The first initiative of its kind, the NLTI will serve as a platform to provide the dedicated funding necessary for the stability and sustainability of Latinx theater.
SUMMARY
The Project Coordinator will assist the Latino Theater Company in the implementation and management of the National Latinx Theater Initiative. The coordinator will work with the Project Directors to develop a strategy to widely announce and publicize the NLTI, complemented by program guidelines and eligibility forms to be completed and submitted by interested theaters, companies, and ensembles. After a thorough review of all applicant organizations, the Project Coordinator will compile a list of eligible submissions to be referred to Project Directors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the development of grant guidelines and application forms for the NLTI.
- Develop a system, with the support of the Latino Theater Company team, for an on-line application and review process.
- Organize all aspects of a virtual peer-review process, including initial communications with the panelists, remuneration for the panelists, protocols for reviewing the applications, and subsequent recommendations made to a sub-committee of the NLTI Steering Committee, which will establish final grantees and grant amounts.
- Oversee communications with grantees through the application, review, selection, and notification process.
- Communicate with successful grantees, issue grant contracts and payment of funds for approved grants and obtain and review all grantee mid-reports and final reports.
- Develop and generate regular accounting and financial reports for the Latino Theater Company, Foundations and Steering Committee.
- Assist with grant development efforts to secure additional funding support for the National Latinx Theater Initiative.
- Obtain and review all grantee mid-reports and final reports.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED SKILLS
- Arts administration experience with responsibility for budget preparation, grant request review, and general operating support.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to set and meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills in both English and Spanish
- A team player and able to develop efficient and effective cross-functional support within LTC staff departments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and Google Docs.
