Via Arts Action Fund: Tell President Obama the Arts Create Jobs
In President Obama’s speech about jobs that he delivered last Thursday at a General Electric manufacturing plant in Wisconsin, he said:
“A lot of young people no longer see the trades and skilled manufacturing as a viable career, but I promise you folks can make a lot more potentially with skilled manufacturing or the trades than they might with an art history degree. Now, there’s nothing wrong with an art history degree; I love art history, so I don’t want to get a bunch of e-mails from everybody." —President Barack Obama, 1/30/14
The Arts Action Fund has prepared an open letter to the President that brings to his attention the fact that the arts equal jobs too. We now need your help to send a clear and impactful message to the President. Please add your name to our letter, as well as encourage your friends to do the same.
We’ll deliver the letter to the White House on President’s Day, February 17th. Please be sure to sign by then.
