Nonprofit Day LA. Mayor Villaraigosa sports an "ART FUELS LA" sticker. On Monday, October 24, hundreds of representatives from the city of Los Angeles' nonprofit sector gathered at Los Angeles City Hall for the first annual Nonprofit Day LA.

The event featured an official recognition of the contributions of the nonprofit sector by Los Angeles City Council, several special presentations and speeches from Councilmembers and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Deputy Mayor Aileen Adams welcomed the group to City Hall and acknowledged the hard work of nonprofit organizations citywide.

Attendees included at least 30 from the arts & cultural sector, who were able to meet personally with Councilmember Paul Krekorian, the recently appointed Chair of the Arts, Parks & Neighborhoods Committee.

Krekorian expressed his support for cultural nonprofits and the arts sector at large, noting that arts and culture is integral to the City of Los Angeles' economic vitality and quality of life.

Mayor Villaraigosa spoke to the gathering about the importance of the nonprofit sector to the continued health of the City of Los Angeles.  He stopped for a photo with the arts advocates and thanked them for their work in the community.

Both Councilman Krekorian and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa joined arts advocates in sporting "ART FUELS LA" stickers (download our template here).

Nonprofit Day LA is intended to be an annual event celebrating Los Angeles' nonprofit organizations.
