NextGen Arts: Report on Emerging Arts Leaders in CaliforniaCenter for Cultural Innovation has released the results of a report based on a survey of 1,300 California arts administrators between the ages of 18 and 35.  The NextGen Executive Summary and Full Report can be downloaded on CCI's Creative Capacity Fund website.  The report was written by economist Ann Markusen for CCI, the James Irvine Foundation and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.

According to the report, the majority of emerging leaders (88%) plan to spend their career in the nonprofit arts field and are deeply committed to their work.  However, more than half reported lower levels of satisfaction with compensation and benefits. The Executive Summary states,"In pursuing a nonprofit arts career, they want to make a positive impact on society, develop professionally, forge peer working and networking relationships, and enjoy decision-making authority and chances for advancement. Compensation and absence of stress are very important to their career dedication."
