House Appropriations Committee Recommends $154 Million for NEA

Tue, 04/12/2011 (All day)

House of Representatives Americans for the Arts reported that the House Appropriations Committee has released their Continuing Resolution (CR) for the remainder of this fiscal year.  The CR includes $154.7 million for the National Endowment for the Arts, a cut of $13 million from the previous year.  Arts in Education is recommended for a .2% cut, to $25.5 million.  These proposed cuts are far less than many had predicted in this difficult funding year and contentious political climate.

According to our national partner, Americans for the Arts, "This amount provides enough to cover continuation funds for current grantees, with about $10 million available for further expenditures."

The Continuing Resolution will go into House Floor consideration this week.  To read the Continuing Resolution and see a list of highlighted program cuts, please click here
