LAUSD's Arts at the Core Resolution Has National Impact
Arts for LA is pleased to report the impact of the Los Angeles Unified School District’s passage of the historic “Arts at the Core” resolution has been felt nationwide. [For more information on the Nury Martinez-authored resolution and its passage, you can download a PDF version.]
Over the past month, advocates in New York City have indicated an interest in passing a similar resolution for the nation’s largest school district. In Chicago, Mayor Rahm Emanuel unveiled a plan to “elevate” the arts to the level of that district’s core subjects as well, ensuring all students at every grade level receive instruction to the arts.
Arts for LA congratulates LAUSD for reclaiming its position as a national leader in offering a complete education to all its students. We are currently working with the district on implementation options and strategies.
