Primary nominating elections are designed to winnow the field from many candidates to two finalists to run in the May General Election. However, if any candidate wins more than 50% of the vote in his or her race, that candidate is automatically elected to office and by passes the need for a round of voting in May.

The following elections tomorrow will be final elections:
Los Angeles & Los Angeles Unified School District
District 5 (Herd/Koretz)
District 15 (Buscaino/Law)
LAUSD District 4 (Anderson/Zimmer)
Pasadena Unified School District
District 1 (Cooper/Kenne)
District 5 (Murga/Pomeroy)
District 7 (Ayala/Phelps)

If you are a constituent in these districts, Arts for LA encourages you to participate by voting in the election to ensure your voice is heard.

Keep in mind elections with three or even four candidates can turn out to be "final" elections in this primary round of voting.  If one of three candidates wins over 50% of the votes cast, that candidate wins the election and the seat.  It's essential to vote in primary elections for this reason, no matter where you live.
