At the end of the residency, a culminating performance took place where the lessons played out onstage through music, dance, history and art. The performance included Degas ballerinas dancing around a mini Edgar Degas, operetta singers belting solos from Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance and a young George M. Cohan mingling with a youthful Scott Joplin as World War I was discussed and ragtime played in the background.  The students ended the performance by shouting “Long live the arts!"   Photo credit: Gary Leonard, courtesy Arts for All
