CultureHub LA seeks two Resident Artists for its 2018-2019 season. The individual or team of artists are invited to develop original work with an emphasis on multimedia experimentation and technological innovation. During a one-week residency period to be scheduled upon selection, the artist(s) in residence will be granted access to the media production equipment, workshop space, and support staff at the CultureHub studio in DTLA.

Resident Artists will explore unique intersections of art, media, and technology through research, demos, workshops, rehearsal, and all other artist-curated methodologies that correspond to their inquiries. As part of their residency, the artists will be invited to conduct art and technology related workshops open to the public. They will also have an opportunity to connect with an extensive and diverse network of CultureHub artists across its 5+ international centers. The residency culminates in a public-facing event that serves the developmental timeline of the work-in-progress. The project may be considered for future presentation as part of CultureHub’s artistic programming.

Current CultureHub NY Resident Artists include: Blair Simmons (Machine Learning, 3D Scanning, Performance), Wendell Cooper (Live Media, Projection, Hip-Hop), Matt Romein (Creative Coding, Performative Systems), Adnan Agha (Game Design, Motion Tracking), Ana Knezevic (VR, Installation), and Maxwell Neely-Cohen (Novelist, Digital Storytelling). Recent LA Residents include Roger Kim (Multimedia Music Performance) and Raven Kwok (Visual Art, Animation, Creative Programming).

Applicants are invited to propose works at various stages of development, and to outline how they plan to use the resources of the CultureHub residency to galvanize their projects. After panel review by CultureHub’s artistic staff, the top candidates will be contacted for an interview.

Open Call Deadline: October 1, 2018 (end of day)

Residencies, Workshops, and Public Presentations: 10/29/2018 - 11/21/2018 and 12/3/2018 - 1/18/2019*
