Our Work

Arts for LA's programs include: civic engagement and arts education advocacy trainings, convenings for the arts and cultural sector, direct education efforts with policymakers, and in-person and online networking activities. To connect arts and culture stakeholders spread throughout the vast region, Arts for LA implemented a groundbreaking web-based advocacy and communication platform that links 45,000+ subscribers in Los Angeles' 88 municipalities and 81 school districts. Arts for LA's robust website, ArtsforLA.org is a destination for arts and arts education advocacy, information and action for Los Angeles County residents.

Arts for LA works to increase public and private investment in arts, culture, and arts education to a level commensurate to the region's geography, demographics, and economic capacity because the arts foster civic engagement, stimulate economic activity, and increase cultural empathy, and thus play a crucial role in sustaining thriving communities (A Decade of Arts Engagement, NEA). Every resident deserves access to a variety of cultural and creative experiences, from neighborhood cultural centers to major arts institutions. Arts and cultural education is central to the development of all children and to ongoing and creative engagement for people of all ages (The Qualities of Quality: Understanding Excellence in Arts Education, The Wallace Foundation).

The breadth, depth, and diversity of its artistic and cultural life are a critical measure of the vitality of Los Angeles.
